Farb, what's your aol sn?

its the same thing as my cc name, farbdogg71

I didnt mean to send everyone into a panic. I wouldnt put too much stock into any of this, i know I'm not. I havent even told my parents about the possibility. If you're not able to sign it's probably because they're in the midst of changing the account, and if you have above a 1500 and havent been arrested for smuggling I'm that's the case. For those that can log in and dont see the links, they probably just havent updated your page yet. Again I'm sorry if i stressed everyone out, not my intension, i just got a little excited. Good luck to everyone and STOP GOING ON OPUS.

sorry for posting twice, not sure what happened there

10.5 hrs left for letter to arrive

I was saying that sometimes logging into Opus doesn't work from a home computer. I also have the new links, whatever that means...

What happened to me last year when I signed into OPUS on the 17th (night before getting my letter): Instead of seeing just the link that allows you to check the status of your application (and a few other random links, i.e. financial aid), a message appeared prompting me to stop using my temporary applicant I.D. / password and start using my permanent Emory I.D. "used by staff, faculty, and students." I created my new I.D. and I use it to this day. So basically, I was into Emory's actual network system before receiving my official letter.

At this time, I felt about 90% sure about my acceptance to Emory. Nothing compared to getting the letter in the mail the next day, and I waited with reserved optimism. Many people I talked to last year had the same thing happen as me, and they were all admitted. Hopefully these changes in OPUS are good signs, but I don't remember the path to making an Emory I.D. being so convoluted, following multiple links--there was a big message at the top of my screen. If you can, go ahead and create your I.D. now. Create your I.D., and if I remember correctly it opened up lots of new links very relevant to actual students, not just applicants.

In short, create you I.D. if you can, let me know what happens, and DON'T WORRY if you are not experiencing the same things. We don't even know if this is the same situation as last year. Also, last year I think the university realized their mistake--about an hour after creating my new I.D., my OPUS home page reverted back to normal w/o the message.

I called the admissions office and they said that anyone who makes any contact with emory and gives them their name gets a student id and a campus id...

Yeah, every applicant gets an I.D. to check OPUS like the one you have now. But the I.D. I have now, the one I created the night before I got my official acceptance letter does much more than check the status of the application / financial aid stuff that yours does. It has links relevant to things for STUDENTS, not just APPLICANTS. Also, you don't have access to Learnlink, another Emory network. You have limited access to OPUS, but not learnlink. The I.D. that I created the night before I got my letter gave me access to learnlink.

Basically, the admissions office just told you what you already know. The student/campus I.D. that they told you about is your APPLICANT I.D.--nothing more. Why would they give the same access to actual students and applicants?

On my opus account it lets you look at something called the "advising document" under your unofficial transcript. I wasn't really thinking that was something for applicants, only students. It could mean absolutly nothing at all, but it does make me wonder...

If the letter would just get here already everone would know for sure.

I have the advising document as well, and i didn't receive anything in the mail from Emory today.

If i saw this stuff from the beginning then it would make more sense, but why would they reject an applicant and then give them all kids of different access links in their OPUS accounts a day after the letters were supposed to be sent. Like i said i havent mentioned this to anyone but you guys, because i know that sh#t happenes and the last thing i'm going to do is call it certain and set myself up for a major dissapointment.....on the other hand I'm deff not working on other APP's until i get my letter, i planned on starting today. good luck everyone

My friend who applied regular cannot get to the advising document link on her opus account

Also, i had people who are at emory now check to see if my name comes up as anything on their website and they said that I have an e-mail address... people have been saying that that means im definately in, but i just don't believe it.....why wont the freaking letter just come!!!!

Seems like D-day is right around the corner for you guys! You're becoming very tense. Good luck, applicants '09. I don't know anything about this OPUS thing because I applied Regular Decision last year and just waited for the letter in the mail. I don't think I logged on to OPUS once when waiting.

samiam do you have the links and advising document, etc that we are talking about on your opus account?

no letter today btw

I hope all of you get in because you want it so badly! Good luck!

Though I have the new links, I dont see a message to change my ID.

you have to get someone that goes to emory check for you... i got a few people to check on their websites and they said i got in... im still pessimistic tho, i dont trust it

yeah i have all of those links and my friend who did regular decision does not have those links activated
