My school’s library totally sucked. The librarians were super mean, ugly, old bags. Ugh. And the public library in my town is majorly lacking in decent reading material and the librarians there are big butt holes. Thank the FSM for amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.

Live in the library?

Say goodbye to any chance at a social life.

Oh god, no…

Please.

Is this the effect of taking 1 practice test a day while studying 7 hours straight in the library eating food and talking about vending machine, and calling the library your “home” as a major chilling place?

I lived in my library for like 6 hours a day for a good 4 months. Wasn’t that bad…the library had AC, unread books, and the internet, all of which we didn’t have at home.

I wish I could live at the library, but my parents would get so mad at me. They’d be like calling me, trying to get me to come home. And it’s not like I can turn my cell phone off completely…my dad demands I constantly have it.

Which is too bad, because the library is only about a block from my house and so much more peaceful than my room, which I share with a twelve year old who actually seems to have a social life somehow.

You all wanting to live in libraries should seriously organize a party at the closest library possible…

Jacksonville opened about 6 new library locations in the last 5 years and one of them is near mine. They’re really nice and are stocked with new books.

Since they screwed up on the city budget, most of them are closed on Sundays now.

Also, the summer hours at my library suck. Not opening until noon? What is that? Not being open at all on weekends? Come on.

Let me guess, your city’s budget is even more screwed up than mine?

My library doesn’t open until 10 AM, opens for 8 hours on Saturday, and the closest branch that opens on Sunday is 20 miles away.

Actually, I live in a small-ish, affluent suburb of Detroit. Our budget isn’t screwed up (it better not be–our property taxes are so high); the librarians around here are just lazy.

Public libraries suck for librarians. They work so hard to get a Masters of Library Science just to be stuck with a job that pays $16.18 an hour for part time here in Jacksonville. (It might be more for a salaried librarian).

I can’t blame them for working such short hours.

We seem to have enough, though, that they could at least have it open on Saturdays in the summer.

I live in a group of five small cities…we share the libraries, which are also combined with our 14 school libraries. I guess the main branch is opened for like two hours on Saturdays in the summer (the main branch is near my high school, btw), so I suppose I could go up there. But the branch I live near is by far the best, and is hardly ever open in the summer. And I have to check out books like now because I’m going away this weekend and I’m visiting colleges next weekend…colleges that are only about 12 hours away from where I live…

wait, did anybody see that AOM is back!!!

I see his CC symbol light up when he logs in, that’s why he fails.

Libraries are one of the best places for a moment of serenity.

Invoyable, obviously people’s liking for the library is outweighing your own negativity about it haha

my mom’s getting frustrated because i’m always asking her or my dad for a ride. oh well, she needs to get used to it.

I actually need to go to the library like right now…but it’s cold-ish and it looks like it’s about to rain outside. Oh well. I’ll go anyway.

^ me too, i just wish i lived closer to mine

and i realized that i should dress warm in the library. the ac is really cold there, and summery clothes don’t really feel that suitable, especially if you’re staying in there long

Wow lol

Anyways my class got cancelled today so I have two hours to kill so I decided to visit the library and man - it’s totally way fun. I spent the first hour reading out of random books and so far i’ve learned about prostitution in colonial Latin America, homosexuality in the Soviet Union, and cocaine!

Too bad I found myself back on CC…

asian sensation…I know I’m kind of a lurker on these threads but regardless, I’m kind of starting to get sick of all of your library this and library that stories. You are 16, you should be able to choose where you go to study and where you eat at lunch without telling everyone on the internetz.
