I went online and there appears to to be only one symphony orchestra w/ 75 spots. Is that it?
I have played in our school’s chamber orchestra all 4 years. I am first chair for the 2nd violins, which isn’t very particularly impressive haha considering how many former concert masters probably go to washu. I am worried I won’t be able get into an orchestra at washu.
Anyone familiar with the orchestra can tell me more about it?
There’s another student-run one called WU Pops. It’s easier to be involved with that one. I think they did a concert with video game music years back- that was a pretty fun one.
My D is a freshman and joined WU Pops. They meet once a week to practice, usually have dinner together first. The play a mixture of classical and movie themed music. She plays viola, and she enjoys it. They also go to a STL Symphony concert at least once per semester. She also takes piano lessons at WashU for credit and enjoys that, too. She is not a music major.
Hello, current student here. I’m in both the Symphony Orchestra and WU POPS. The Symphony Orchestra is quite good, and is not hard to get into. If you have an interest in playing, you will get a spot.
