I must have the paradoxical kid…DS would wash his sheets every weekend. We could tell on FaceTime be cause they were different colors. But his bathroom this summer was so disgusting after just a few days, he was threatened with a sleeping bag and a tent if I ever walked in with it like that again. I feel sorry for whomever uses and/or cleans their dorm bathroom!!!
@buuzn03 : Indeed. And I might add that the culture of the school community and the character of its students is often apparent in the way they interact with/treat the staff whose job it is to clean up after them in those bathrooms and common spaces. (Sorry, getting away from original topic)
Bedbug cover???!!! Well, I can smugly say again that boys’ dorms at Mercersburg do not smell bad, rooms are tidy(ish) and sheets get washed occasionally. However, I just found out at college move-in that my son never put the mattress cover over the big fat foam thing, just the sheet. And he doesn’t care, either. Yuck.
What age is that? Bed-jumping was an athletic event in ChoatieKid’s dorm. I have pictures.

At SPS, the staff would vacuum, dust, etc. but nobody was cleaning students dirty dishes and crap. That was on the students. Dorm kitchens and common rooms would get shut down when it got disgusting - often the result of a few lazy people and almost always the girls’ dorms. BTW, the support staff at SPS - dorm cleaning, dining hall, landscaping, maintenance, etc. - are a wonderful bunch of people. Very friendly, very hardworking, great relationships with students.
