It’s so frustrating. I’d like a complete list of my books, but B&N doesn’t have one yet. It’s dumb, because last week they only had my bio books up, last night they somehow lost the info and only had my writing books up, and now they seem to have lost all info on books for ANY of my classes. It doesn’t make sense. Something’s wrong with their site…

I think there was a system's glitch. Ditto here but all info is back online this AM.

make sure you email your professors to ask them which books you need. i'm a little skeptical about b&n always losing the booklist and never having the isbn's up. maybe they have too many books to list or selling textbooks is a huge business for them-they don't want students buying textbooks online from companies that actually sell below retail prices. i'm starting my third year at bu, and i've only bought books from b&n on my first semester as a freshman.

wen is everyone planning on ordering their books?

S has already ordered most of his books. We bought used books from www.half.com and the local used bookstore (Shakespeare plays, easy to find), and some new from Amazon. Check the prices on your book list. I found it cheaper to order some of the books new on Amazon because shipping is free when you order over $25-- and no sales tax. But order them now so the books have time to arrive before you leave for BU.

i guess they had problems that one day. the lists are back up. but copy and paste your book list and save it on your computer. sometime near the end of summer or the beginning of the school year, they will take the lists down. i like saving mine just for future reference.

and as said so many times on this forum, stuff at the BU barnes and noble is overpriced. check half.com, ebay, and amazon first. most of the time, a textbook at half.com will be a lot cheaper than at the BU b&n, even with shipping. some small softcover books may be the same price online and at BU.

and make sure u get the right edition. either email your professors and ask for the ISBNs so u can order them over the summer, or wait until u get to BU, where u can visit the bookstore, jot down the right ISBNs, then order them online.

Do professors get annoyed though when you e-mail them for the numbers?? They have hundreds of students and it must be quite a hassle to respond to everyone, right??

some profs won't respond, and some rarely even check their email. but most will happily try to help u. more and more students are asking for ISBNs, so most have an email response all set to give to u if u just ask.

There are two classes in which I can't find the textbooks on amazon or half.com, so I emailed my profs but they were no help at all.
