I have ten activities listed on my Common App, and about half of them have to do with work with children I have done in the past. The others activities are more random, such as National Honor Society, debate and family responsibilities. However, I spent more time at activities like National Honor Society than at some of my childcare-related activities. Should I list all of my childcare activities together toward the top, or should I order my activities based on how much time I spent on them?
Rank with the importance to you.
Order them based on their importance to you.
When you say important, do you mean the ones I enjoyed the most?
I think it’s a good idea to list them in their order of ‘importance’ to you.
It might help to imagine that the AO reading your application might only read the top 5 on your list, or the top 7…which ones do you REALLY want to make sure they see?
Sometimes it makes sense to group similar activities into one activity…perhaps some of your ‘childcare-related’ activities could be grouped together?
Just list them according to how impressive each one is. The most notable achievements should go on top.
Important can mean the ones you enjoyed the most, yes. But beyond that, it means the ones that you have invested the most time in and had an important role in (this often correlates with your enjoyment of the activity)
