<p>So I was originally planning on order my linens and other dorm items from <a href="http://www.rhl.org%5B/url%5D">www.rhl.org</a> website. However, I live in California and its sort of impractical to get all these things and bring them over with me. </p>
<p>I was wondering if there is anyway I can ship it to CMU instead of my home and pick it up when I go there in August.</p>
<p>Yeah but make sure to buy it late in the summer, like a week before orientation. CMU only holds packages for 10 days and then sends them back where they came from. Have you gotten your PO box information yet? Each student has his or her own box to ship things to. When you get that number, you can just use your PO box as the shipping address and when it arrives in August you’ll get an e-mail notification that your linens have arrived. :)</p>
<p>I read somewhere on CMU’s website that they’ll start taking in boxes Aug 10th.</p>
<p>Btw: I heard the quality of RHL’s linens is poor from various past threads on CC and their price isn’t as great as they make it seem.</p>
<p>RHL is not great, admittedly. CMU endorses them in a bunch of little pamphlets you’ll start getting soon if you haven’t already. Most of the kids I know who bought a RHL pack ended up switching for Target brand or something a little better quality - it’s kinda like sleeping on paper. But they -are- cheap.</p>

<p>But it looks like they make you pay for shipping to ship it back to them. You would -still- do better with Target linens with the money left over.</p>

<p>But they have an option to upgrade the linens to cotton. Cost a little more.</p>
<p>Any extra long sheets will work, but not “normal” twin size sheets. Target is fine.</p>
<p>Target, walmart, etc all will sell dorm room sheets in your neighborhood and in Pitt. They are really not any more expensive than regular sheets as they are all discounted in the back-to-school displays everywhere. A sheet set- one fitted, one flat and a pillowcase is usually 15-20 dollars at these stores with a full range of color choices. The cmu vendor is just robbing everyone…the prices are outlandish!</p>
<p>One thing to consider is that it’s really nice to wash the sheets before you place them on your bed…they smell “new” and that is not “new” as in “freshly laundered yummy inviting” new…and they are stiff right out of a package- -industrial smelly new. You can always buy one package at home wash and be ready upon arrival.</p>
<p>Both my kids are under 5’7 – so while the extra long sheets were needed on the bed to fit…they did NOT need a dorm size blanket-- the regular blanket / comforter from home was just fine and not worth any more money for a dorm sized blanket.</p>
<p>Tatters, do you have Bed, Bath & Beyond out there? If so, you can register (like a bridal regestry) for all your college needs and then pick it up at the BB & B in Pittsburgh. I think they even have a specific list for CMU! So no shipping and start saving those coupons!! You use them when you pick up in Pitt. You can also choose not to take any items you decide you don’t want or need. I think Target also has a program too.</p>
<p>You can order on the website…1/2 price. They even have the really nice soft t-shirt material-jersey-as well as the usual harsh sheets. Half the price of BB&B. If you spend $50 you usually get free shipping. Look for a discount code on their home web page. You can get some cheap towels, etc. Target has backorders for some of theirs and for some reason don’t hae the jersey sheets except with patterns (I have S) that only my D would have loved when she was 10.</p>
