does anyone know what UW admissions officers think about oregon residents applying to washington? of course, we're out of state, but oregon and washington are basically the exact same thing (if you've been to both states, you'd know what i'm talking about).

If anything, your location may hurt you, seeing how you're an out of state applicant who brings nothing to the table in the way of geographic diversity. Just my guess though.

Lots of Oregonians at the U. You just have to give up wearing green and yellow or black and orange. :)

No really just check the demos for enrolled students for your answer.

lol, believe me...i bring lots to the table. maybe not so much in being an oregonian, but very much in other things....

yeah. oregonians love UDub. i'm not worried too much about admission to UW (i'm using it as a safety), i'm just wondering if they think about oregonians as as close to washington residents as physically possible. lol. i mean...portland and vancouver are like 25-30 minutes away from each other!

"portland and vancouver are like 25-30 minutes away from each other!"

And that's only because I-5 sucks so bad down there. It's all of five miles apart....

haha, solid point, but portland is a lovely city! so the whole I-5 difficulty is a moot point. :)

opie you go to UW right? what do you think about the school? what were your stats as a high schooler/what are the students like? id like to hear the view of a real UW student.

you could try looking at the common data set for the number of oregonians.

you're out of state, and geographically challenged in the diversity aspect. There are lots of Oregonians, because, besides WA itself, that's where they receive the most apps from. Don't think it will especially hurt you in admissions though. They look for the most qualified student, no matter where you are from with the exception of in state/OOS status.
