Can anyone give me some general info about this program?

i have heard that its a great program - a lot of work

http://orfe.princeton.edu/

its definitely great for those looking into business/finance

I read on the princetonian that it was not a lot of work compared to other majors and allowed for a social life and/or concentration on other electives, or in my case..sports.

Well...it's an engineering program, which tends to be more difficult and hardcore than the AB programs (virtually all of them at least.) But of the engineering majors, it's one of the most popular, and strikes the right balance of work and time to pursue other activities. This is a dressed up way of saying that it's the easiest engineering major to get (probably also one of the more useful ones too.) It's easy in part because the teaching and personal attention for students is quite high. There's a reason why other engineers complain about ORFE being watered-down and not "real" engineering...they're jealous of the reduced work load!

It is an amazing program from what I have read.
I see it giving you a real edge over the thousands of kids from other top schools majoring in economics and the like. I haven't found a program quite like it at any other school. Columbia, Cornell, Babson, UB try with a Operations Research major, but not quite a PTON offering.....Any anecdotal job recruitment stories to confirm this?

Well, though most kids who go into IBs and other Wall Street jobs don't need to have a rigorous eductaion if they come from Princeton (they'll take a religion or comparitive literature major if you are motivated enough), Goldman Sachs and other top BB and consulting firms recruit heavily from ORFE, as it shows a strong work ethic.

I believe the ORFE department webpage has testimonials from recent grads and how the program helped them, in addition to job placement info...

First link is a "yellow pages" guide as to what to expect; second link is placement record over past few years (they're both PDF files.)
