organic chem for freshmen year??

i heard that a lot of freshmen are taking orgo chem in their freshmen year by placing out of the chemistry AP score. is this a good idea? i personally got a 5 on the chem exam and can technically place out of general chem and take orgo, but wouldn't that be little bit too hardcore and even, possibly, hurt your gpa, considering that the orgo chem is one of the hardest classes in college?

well, i think it's good. cuz the advance placement orgo is easier than the pure orgo.

=D

I also got a 5 and decided to skip organic my freshman year. I'm taking it in the fall now, sophomore year. I heard mixed reviews about it from freshmen I know that took it. The Advanced Placement class is taught the same and covers the same material as the regular class, so it isn't necessarily easier, but since there are only freshmen in that class and the size is about 30-40 as opposed to 150 or so, it might be more comfortable to an incoming freshman.

from what I've heard, the teachers who taught the class was more "lenient" as one would say. The material is the same; they even use the same book. I don't know whether this is a coincidence that these certain teachers happened to be teaching the couse last year or whether they always teach the advance placement organic chemistry course.
