Organic Chem Lab not required for Engineering at my school (!)

I go to the University of Washington (a quarter-based school), and it appears that organic chem lab is not required for Engineering majors (just two quarters of the lecture), assuming that the engineering major you are interested in requires some organic chemistry in the first place (I'm considering Chem E and MSE). The full series of organic chemistry includes 3 quarters of lecture and 2 quarters of lab.

While it is recommended to take the full series if you are on a pre-med track, I'm not really interested in medicine as a career. I'm wondering what someone with some experience would advise; should I just take the whole series anyways? I just feel that an ochem education (or any intro science class) would not be complete without a lab component.

The main negative is that because lecture and lab are separate, the amount of credits required to take both is pretty high (7 credits). This would pretty much restrict me to taking only two other classes each for winter quarter and spring quarter.

OChem lab wasn’t THAT insightful. All I remember is having to reflux a clear liquid for hours only to produce some other clear liquid that was my product. I guess it’d helpful if you plan on being an analyst or something. Anyway, UW has a well respected, high ranking engineering program. I’d take their word that OChem lab won’t be necessary for you to become a capable engineer.
