Organic Chem?

My high school offers organic chem after you finish ap chem. it is a college course, and it is taught by a college professor, but he comes to our high school. you have to pay for it and everything, but you get a 50% discount for the 3 credit it's worth. it also counts as college credit and can skip it once you're in college, but it also counts to your high school gpa.

I've heard that organic chem is near impossible to get an A in - in fact, the average is a high C/low B. keep in mind that only 10 students took it last year, and almost all of them are academic standouts..

So should i take it and risk my high school gpa? or should i just wait and take it in college. I was planning to take it senior year, but after i heard about how difficult it was, i'm having second thoughts. help please?

No high schooler should be taking orgo.

The average for most college science classes at any university or college is around a C. It's not necessarily "near impossible" to get an A in orgo, but it generally does take a lot of work. I seriously doubt any high school student has the time or ability to do well in organic chemistry.

note: obviously there will be exceptions, but when I say "any high school student" I mean the vast majority (>90-95%)

ha, thanks. i'm thinking about auditing it over the summer first, and then taking it in high school. it can't hurt me besides my gpa, and i'm pretty interested in chem. i still have a full year to decide, so we'll see.

any other opinions??
