Organic Chemistry for the Biology Undergraduate

A lot of sources tell me that full year, two part organic chemistry courses are required for medical careers and all the top graduate programs practically everywhere. I’m at least a year away from having to decide for a one term general organic chem course or a two term full one and as far as I know about organic chem, I wouldn’t want to do any more than necessary.

How relevant is two term organic chem for various bio majors? Would you say a biochem major would need it to get to a good grad school?

At umich, bio majors are required to take the two term orgo sequence. I don’t get why you would have a one term course offered at your institution. I took both orgo 1 and 2 and felt like it would be too much to cram into one semester.

It is true that medical schools and most other types of health professional schools require two terms or organic chemistry.
