Organic chemistry substiitute

I am thinking of completing organic chemistry (which is a tough subject) during my summer holidays in Bay Area, California if possible and transfer credits to Duke. I understand that it won’t contribute to my GPA but would fulfill the requirement. I looked into Santa Clara University but they seem to have only 3 weeks of organic chemistry versus 6 weeks in Duke as per semester system. Has anyone done this earlier and if so, wondering if you may please share any other options. What are the pros and cons of completing it in Duke itself (which I realize is tougher). Thank you.

Are you doing this for med school? Lots of students take Orgo at a community college over the summer. The grades will count towards your GPA, just not your Duke GPA. A separate GPA is calculated by the AMCAS for med school applicants.

Did you check with Duke to make sure it will fulfill your major requirements?

thanks for your response. This is not for Med school. It is for Undergraduate.

@varshakgan : You mean taking it before you go to college (many students at elites do this surprisingly)? I think sgopal2 was just asking if you are doing it to fulfill a pre-med (med. school) pre-requisite as an undergraduate (as in are you an undergraduate right now).

Sorry , just saw this message. Yes, I am undergraduate right now.

Check if Duke would accept the course as a transfer credit, which I doubt they would.

I HIGHLY doubt Duke would accept a 3 week organic chemistry course at Santa Clara CC as a transfer credit. I know they don’t accept transfer credit of organic chemistry from Northwestern (who is on a quarter system and thus is a bit shorter). Duke is very stingy with its transfer credits…
