Organized programs necessary?

Hi -

I'm curious if it's extremely important that what one does in the summer is defined in organized programs.

Is it okay to pursue one's own interests and be able to descibe one's productive summer?

Odd question... but please clarify!

Of course it's ok to pursue your own interests. There are many ways to be productive that don't involve organized programs, including getting a job. You probably don't want to tell colleges that you spent 3 months playing video games, however.

Hahahah!! !
