Im currently a sophomore at Wayne State University, and I plan on going into Pharmacy. With that said, I need a high gpa, but I do need to get these classes out of the way. Im on my second week of Orgo 1, and I seem to enjoy it. I received an A in Gen Chem and an A for Chemistry: skills and reasoning (Gen Chem PreReq). As for biology, I’m not too interested in. I got a B in my first biology class and a D+ in microbiology because I slacked off and failed the lab which is about 40% of my grade. Im not the smartest student out there, but then again I only study between the night before and the day of an exam. I’m a quick learner though and I want to change my bad habits.
I plan on taking Orgo 2 in the fall and A&P (combined course), but would it be too much if i were to retake microbiology with the other two classes? I honestly didn’t learn much in micro lecture, but I know a lot when it comes to the lab portion. I think I’ll do well Orgo 2 because I like chemistry, and A&P interests me also. I just never liked microbiology.
My gpa is a 3.27, but after the spring/summer semester it should be about 3.37. If I retake micro in the fall on top of taking orgo 2 and A&P, my cumulative gpa would be 3.63 if I get all As. If its too much too handle i thought to take a 4 credit gen ed course instead, keeping my gpa at 3.5. Im also an honors student and can’t have a cumulative gpa under 3.3, so I don’t want to risk anything by taking too much of a course load.
If anyone has taken this combination of classes together or just a bunch of tough courses that are similar, I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks.
