orgo and then general?

do you think it is ALLOWABLE if a student takes orgo and then general
i know the opposite is the usual, but just wondering

i don't think it will be not ALLOWABLE?..

do you think it will damage med school chanceS?

at my school the pre-reqs for organic included having completed the second semester of general chem (which of course had required 1st semester of gen chem)...I believe that this is likely the case at most undergraduate institutions. So short answer: no it is not allowable.

Now, that said, I have a good friend in my med school class (and from undergrad - he was in my fraternity) who had gotten AP credit for 1st and 2nd semester general chem courses, and his sophomore year started in on organic. He passed organic no problem. Subsequently he learned that most medical schools didn't accept AP credit for the pre-reqs and went back and took both gen chem courses. Because the state medical school (where we now both currently attend) requires biochem as an entrance requirement, he couldn't use that as a reasonable substitute. His was a unique set of circumstances, certainly not the norm, but shows that sometimes people can go the way you suggest.
