Orgo as a freshman?

I'm in a Focus, so those will take up two of my class spots. Apparently there is a special orgo class that's just for freshmen? What's different about it besides the people in the class? If I plan on going premed, should I take this? My schedule would look like two Focus seminars, orgo, and a writing/foreign language/economics class. I'm torn between going to medical school or doing economics/business, so I think I want to do premed and major in econ.

Suffice to say, it would be a dumb idea to take both orgo and math 103 in the same semester, right?

Yes, there is a freshmen-only section of chem 151 that is offered in the fall only. I think the curve for that class is slightly better than for regular orgo and the class is smaller so you'll have more interaction with the professor. Keep in mind that the students taking it are usually also more competitive so that somewhat compensates for the better curve.

As for pre-med, I'm sure you know you need to eventually take orgo, but when to take it is purely up to you as long as you do end up taking it.

Regarding math 103 and orgo together, there's an active thread just for that so check that out.

Actually, I think I'm gonna take Chem 23L. I took AP Chem as a junior, and I've forgotten a lot of it.

Gah, I'm really on the fence about 23L vs 151L. I'm sure I can do some review this summer to prepare for orgo if I wanted to, and Toone has some pretty scary difficulty ratings for 23L.

If you really don't mind the work, then why not go for 151. With Toone lecturing chem 23, you might as well since he loves to mix in orgo with gen chem.

Honestly I'd go ahead and take 151 and get Orgo over with. Seriously, take it and get it out of the way.
