Orientation and choosing my classes

I have a questions regarding orientation. I scheduled for next week, June 16-18. It is my understanding that during orientation my account will be "unlocked" and I will be able to register for classes.

Will I be able make changes in my classes after orientation next week, or do I need to wait for the first week of classes?

I wanted to check Rate My Professor, but noticed in the FSU course look-up, that the vast majority of the classes do not have a professor assigned. It says "STAFF."

Is this the way it is, or as we get closer to the beginning of classes, the names of the professors will show in the fields?

What kind of assistance from counselors am I going to have during orientation, if there are so many students doing the same thing at the same time?

We just got back from orientation yesterday and my son registered for his classes. I gave him some rate my professor names but he, too, only saw STAFF. The classes are on his blackboard now, but still no prof. names. You can change up until the end of June and then they open up again on 7/13 so you can adj them after getting ap scores, etc.

Sometimes you can call the department of the class you want to tak and they can tell you a teacher name.

FSU is a very respected, nationally ranked school… Therefore I trust that FSU has excellent professors and that nobody is out to get you… So I suggest forgetting the whole rate my professor thing and just choosing a course by how it works with your schedule.

From what I heard during orientation, most of the time, its either pised off students who go to rate my professor to rant, or the kids who would have been superb in the class regardless of the professor.

I was advised that using FSU’s own SUSSAI would give a more reliable teacher assessment.

Just my 2 cents, though

On your second day you get to go to a presentation about your major… The presentations are grouped by departments and you will have to endure hearing about other majors in your department as well. However, afterward you can speak with advisers and professors if you can catch them before they leave.

On the third day (IDK if this is true for all departments, but this is how mine went…) you get one-on one time with an adviser in your department. They take as much time as they need as they help you choose your courses, which you will register for later in the day. You’re going to have to wait until it is your turn to speak with the adviser though.
