Orientation and Housing questions!

Ok so i received my acceptance package today and it was the package for international students. I do live overseas but I am not technically international (don't need student visa) do you think this was a mistake or is it because I currently live outside of the US
anyway my questions are:
1. should i go to the international orientation or fall orientation. they are around the same time but since i don't need to learn about visas and health insurance maybe I should go to the fall one? does anyone even go to fall orientation?

I am kinda worried about the placement tests it might be stupid but my HS curriculum is different from the US and I'm not really sure what subjects the tests are for?? if anyone could tell me it would really help

I received an email saying i could apply for housing on may 3rd but from what I understand it is best to apply before may 1st for the lottery. is there any way i can apply before may 1st??
thanks!

I’m going to the fall orientation! and supposedly the placement tests aren’t TOO hard but if you’re concerned maybe brush up a smidge before and you should be fine. & you’re fine on housing as long as you apply before the lottery, which is May 6

^did you get an email/letter about fall orientation after requesting fall?

Does the housing email for the lottery come to your personal email or your new Michigan email address?

prob both but def the umich one

@collegebound: I emailed requesting fall, then someone emailed me back saying you’re welcome -____- so I emailed again asking if I needed to sign anything or wait for more information & I haven’t heard back yet

The website states:

If any of the following conditions apply to you, it is mandatory that you attend the International Orientation program Friday, August 27 - Wednesday, September 1, 2010. All new students are required to attend orientation.

You are a United States citizen educated abroad
You live outside the United States
You are in the United States on a temporary or student visa
You need to take the Academic English Evaluation (AEE) as a condition of your admission (see your letter of admission for details)
You are an exchange student with the Office of International Programs or the College of Engineering

[Office of New Student Programs | International Students | Orientation - University of Michigan](http://www.onsp.umich.edu/international_students/orientation/)

So you’ll need to attend the international orientation, since you’re a US citizen educated outside the US. I wouldn’t worry about the placement tests, they didn’t seem to have too much weight in choosing classes…

be_somebody, thanks! I had the same question.
