Orientation arrival time?

Does anyone know what time we should be there by? I’m trying to schedule a day for the mega bus but idk if 9:10am arrival time is tol late?

Orientation check-in is from 7-9:30 am. If Megabus arrives at 9:10 am you can probably manage although it may not be ideal. Is there any way you can get to Austin the night before Orientation begins?

Here’s the preliminary Orientation schedule:

I could get there the night before but then I wouldn’t know what to do? Should I just find a hotel and stay the night?

But thank you so much for this schedule @FloMoMom it helps a lot!!!

Do you know anyone else who will be there for the same orientation? Maybe you can stay together the night before?

Girls can stay at SRD the night before orientation for just $55. The price includes a shared room, meals and parking. (You will need to bring your own linens and towels.) You do not have to be a resident of SRD next fall to stay there before orientation.

Moms can stay at SRD too! It’s $55 per night and they’re flexible so your mom can stay for one, two or three nights. Moms get single rooms and can rent linens for an additional $25.

EARLY!! Last year traffic and parking was a nightmare which added at least an hour before we could get in line. At the point my son got checked in they were out of rooms and he had to go back later to get a room assignment. It sucked!

@rach98n which session did he go to last year?

June 8-10 @amottmers To further explain, by the time he got to the front of the line (and there were at least 50 people behind him), they no longer had rooms to offer (for boys anyway) and he had to have his luggage stored and move on. He later got assigned a space (a room w/2 sets of bunks and 4 people - the rest had 2) but missed out on the “move in” time and getting to know who he was staying with. Not a horrible thing, but it was slightly stressful!

@FloMoMom Thank you so much. I don’t need to find an expensive hotel and be lonely where I won’t know anybody!
I really appreciate that you put this on hear about Moms staying in this dormitory. (:

Please do not expect Megabus to be on time. Even if they are, it will take at least 15 minutes to unload luggage etc.

Last year, my son sent an email to UT wondering what would happen if he was checking in late, and this was their response : “Unfortunately, Check-In is mandatory. You must be checked in by 9:30 am or you will be cancelled from your Orientation session.”

We ended up driving early in the morning, like leaving at 5 am :).
