Orientation Dates?

Does anyone know if the orientation dates have been set; can't seem to find it on any link. I know UCSD already has its dates.
Also, someone suggested a parent accompany the student to orientation. Any need for that? What exactly goes on during orientation? I heard one of things that gets done is fall registration. True?
And how long is it? I heard it's about 3 days, and there are about 3 or 4 sessions, including one in September for those who can't make it in the summer.
Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks.

There is a seperate "parent orientation" that is only one day long. I don't know how necessary it is - my parents didn't go.
There are 10 student sessions, and I've never heard of one in September.

they r supposed to be 3 days long for $360.

parents can come for 1 day for 60 bucks.

i think they tell us about the classes we should take.

they are not compulsory.

This is what i have learnt from other threads on cc from other guys so it may not be 100% correct.

And one more thing: Good Night

They are not compulsory, but you will regret it if you dont go.
They are worth it, if only for the ability to sign up for classes. You're already signing up after the rest of UCLA, but if you dont' go to orientation you have to wait til after all the orientation sessions are over to register, and there will be very little selection. (There already is little selection for the later sessions)

does everyone get roomed in the res halls? or do you get to live in something similar to what you were assigned for housing? what about parking?

looking at the pictures on the orientation website, everyone is broken into small groups led by a current student, correct? are these groups completely random or can we somehow pick them?

You'll have to buy a parking ticket for each day of orientation ($7 a day). And everyone is roomed in one of the res halls (probably rieber again).

And yes, you will be split up into a group of about 15 led by an orientation counselor. The groups are picked (for the most part) by your declared major. So if you declared chemistry, you'll be grouped with other chem majors (and probably an OC who is a chem major or similar)

An orientation counselor called me a few days ago. Orientation is actually $340. And she said the first session would be within the first 2 weeks of July and going through August.

Hey one thing I noticed is that the latest orientation sessions are in August, but what if you're an international student? The term at UCLA only starts in late september, so if I head down to Los Angeles in Mid August what will I do for 1+ month with no college or anything.. are there any later orientations?

Ranjint there are many roads in LA which you can make your home for 1 month, you can join the 1000s of other homeless people on the road.

Seriously, this is a good question, you must ask the office at ucla, otherwise it will be prob for you.

"does everyone get roomed in the res halls? or do you get to live in something similar to what you were assigned for housing? what about parking?"

everyone gets roomed in a res hall. it's easier to meet people anyway. last year it was in rieber.
