Orientation Dates ?

I just sent in my deposit yesterday, so I havent gotten anything about specific dates for orientation in the summer....If anyone has received any materials that have the dates for orientation, could you please post them here because I need to book some flights for the summer and I need to know when I have to be in New York.

does ANYone know these dates?!

sry i havent gotten my letter from NYU in the mail yet cuz i just sent my deposit in a week ago, but i will let you know when i get it. i need to know the dates ASAP as well for the same reason....cheapest airfare possible!

It depends on the school you are in.

GSP and Tisch have theirs, or at least in the past, during Welcome Week.

CAS has like 7 different orientation weeks that you should probably be receiving soon which one you are in.

Steinhardt I think has 2 or 3 of them...

Gallatin has one usually at the end of June.

Not sure about Stern.

stern is one day between june 6 and 10

thnx for all of your responses...im attending CAS so I guess there are Sessions A-E. Do we get to choose which session we want to attend or will i get an assigned date in my admissions materials?

For CAS, is it possible to skip orientation and register for classes online?

Another question: When do Tisch students register for classes if we do not have orientation until a week before fall semester begins?

For CAS, you can have "orientation" during Welcome Week when everyone moves in. It will not be by any means as extensive as the summer orientation - their main goal is just to get you registered for classes. Many people do that if they can't afford the plane ticket etc.

You do it during that week.

if i go to the cas orientation during welcome week, will i be stuck with the crappy classes (e.g. not my first choice classes and friday 8 AM ones)? My major (journalism) is pretty popular, so what do you suggest?

You probably won't be really taking any journalism classes first semester anyway with all the MAP requirements. NYU says they open spaces throughout the summer for incoming freshmen -- but I don't know if that is really true.

I do suggest going to orientation though - it's fun and a good way to meet people.
