<p>Maebee, why is your orientation date so late? Mine is July 21st, which I am annoyed with because it’s already so late. I could not wait until August 26th. The classes I was looking at are already full or filling up. It’s frustrating…</p>
<p>Ugh, I don’t know! I did the orientation sign-up on the MyU portal last week, and Aug 26th was the ONLY date I was allowed to pick…so I confirmed that date. I’ve emailed them though…I’m hoping it was some sort of glitch in the website. It doesn’t make sense for all of the other orientation dates to be full already!</p>
<p>Hmmmmm…because when I was choosing my transfer registration / orientation date, July 21st was the first date that was available. I didn’t want to risk a later date, so I quickly choose that one. And I just signed up a few weeks ago.</p>
<p>Yeah, I don’t know why I only had one day to choose from. I know that some majors register later than others (in CLA, I saw in another post that you’re in CLA too), so I guess it’s possible that CLA chem majors have a really late orientation date…maybe. I should be getting an email about it tomorrow, so we’ll see. I’ll update here when I find out!</p>
<p>I think they are full. I registered last monday night and there was only a few spots left on the first date (7/20).</p>
<p>Nah, that still doesn’t make any sense. I signed up last Tuesday. If you signed up the day before me and the first date wasn’t even full…I mean, look at how many dates they have for CLA students:</p>

<p>There’s no way that all of those dates would have filled up in the day between when you registered and when I did!</p>
<p>oops… mine is CBS orientation, maybe thats the difference. since we have only 6 sessions and 25 spots for each, it might easier to be filled up. i think you might wanna call them. I chose the earliest one so that i can register earlier</p>
<p>Okay, I called. They said that the orientation dates are broken up by not only college, but also major. So, for my major within CLA, there were only two dates available. However, the earlier date, August 11th, still had spaces! That’s the third-earliest date for CLA transfers (as opposed to 10th-earliest for August 26th!), so hopefully I’ll have more classes to choose from now. :)</p>

<p>Well, Maebee, at least you got bumped forward a little bit. My friend was in the same position as us when she went to the U a few years back. She transferred in and attended one of the later registration times. I asked her about classes, and she said not to be surprised if the classes / sections that we want are full. However, she said that once classes start, you can talk to the professor, and if it is possible, he or she will let you join his or her class. Alternatively, she said the withdraw / drop rates are high, so just wait for enough people to drop. Luckily, this is the only semester with which we will have difficulties. For example, in the spring, we will be able to register as “regular” students.</p>
