Orientation information? (transfers in particular)

Has anyone gotten orientation information yet? I'm a junior transfer and the orientation page says it's not available to my uniqname yet.

I read that there's a two day transfer orientation in the summer, but Taubman isn't listed under the colleges that are participating in the two day orientation. Does that mean it will be unavailable to me? It seems like it would be a good thing to do and would have more information than the single day...just wondering.

And if you have gotten orientation info, how long did it take for yours to come?
And on a side note, how long did your fin aid packages take to become available? I'm still waiting on that too.

Thanks!

Hey! I’m a junior transfer too. I got my email with transfer orientation registration on 14 April - when I talked to the Office of New Student Programs, they said that when you get orientation info can depend on when you paid your enrollment deposit. Since I was accepted in March and I paid my deposit on the same day, I think I was in the first wave of orientation emails.

I’m LSA, so I can’t speak much for what Taubman’s orientation stuff is like, but I do know that most students are advised to do the 1-day orientation - the 2-day orientation is designed primarily for students transferring from community colleges. If you’re coming from a 4-year university, you’ll probably be totally fine with the 1-day, and it’ll be less expensive too!

I haven’t gotten financial aid yet, which is making me kind of anxious - I have no idea when packages are supposed to be available for transfers.

Good luck!

Yea I’m getting anxious too. I’m in state so I know that’s in my favor but still…

And I am coming from a community college, I guess I should have put that in the op but that’s why I thought the 2 day would be better. Do you think it’d just be a waste of time?

I was accepted April 14. Orientation registration was available April 18. I would think it’s in your best interest to attend orientation asap in order to get a decent selection of classes. But maybe UM closes certain sections and then opens them during orientation? I don’t know.
