I'm preparing for registration at orientation next week and have a couple of questions about Testudo:

What does the "Hold" mean that some classes have? If I would like to take a class that's in my major that is filled, but has some seats listed in the "hold" area, might I still be able to register for it at orientation? It also looks like some CORE classes have the "hold" seats...do they hold these for freshmen?

How does the waitlist work? Is there any limit to the number of classes you can waitlist for? Do you automatically get placed in the class if you are next on the waitlist and a spot opens up?

Can we make changes to our schedules after orientation if we change our mind about which classes we want to take?

Thanks :) Next semester I'll know all this stuff !!!

Yes you can change your classes after orientation. This is good website that explains how the wait list works …[University of Maryland | Testudo | Schedule of Classes | Registering for Classes](http://www.testudo.umd.edu/soc/reg.html)

You can make changes to your schedule after orientation up until the cutoff dates after the semester starts. Frequently you get off of waitlists very early in the semester because everyone is making so many changes to their schedule. Make sure and verify the process for checking on the waitlist. Beginning a certain day (usually right before classes start), you must check in every day via the system, or you will lose your spot on the waitlist. If you clear, then you still have to confirm that you want to take the spot.
