I was just wondering…

Should my parents come to orientation? Do your parents stay with you during the activities, or do they have their own?

Should I pay for food/housing? I’m thinking of just staying in a cheap hotel, but is it a pain to find food without the meal plan?

Thanks so much!

I want to know if parents have to attend orientation too! I do know that they participate in a different program than the students though.
As for the housing, I would just pay for it and not go through the pain of finding food and paying for it and then going to and from the hotel which will probably still cost somewhere around 200 for two nights. I think it’s just easier to go with the package. But those are my thoughts on it. :P

Thanks! I wish I knew if the program for the parents was at all useful though…$150 is hard to swallow for nothing :P

So long as you are a good listener and independent it is not necessary for your parents to come to orientation. They have their own program and much of it is the same information you are learning. Parents come because they enjoy hearing the information you are learning, meeting department heads, meeting other parents, and getting to know the campus better, but you will be fine if they don’t choose to come.
