hey, whats this I hear about new kids getting completely hammered during 'orientation' parties??

are they school sponsored? what are they?

pshhh... we'll party alright lol

Most of the orientation week parties are in collegetown, since fraternities aren't allowed to be open until after welcome weekend. Many of the collegetown parties are held at fraternity "annexes", however, and are somewhat similar to frat parties. The events are definitely not school sponsored and everyone gets pretty wasted. I prefer to refer to the week as "disorientation week".

The orientation staff really discourages ctown partying during orientation week because "you can party anytime but only have one chance for orientation activities" or something along those lines.

Also probably because a lot of freshmen don't know their limits and get wasted there (and then don't know their way back to the dorms yet lol).

but of course if you're one of those people who know their limits.. let the nights begin!

"Also probably because a lot of freshmen don't know their limits and get wasted there (and then don't know their way back to the dorms yet lol)."

Ya so...wave n I are transfers...we've experienced a year of college already...nuff said lol

Thanks for the advice! I guess we'll have to prioritize.

I'm sure freshmen know their limits; many(most?) drinkers start drinking in high school.

hmm....were gonna tear up orientation day....u and me figs....lol

and dammit, im technically not a transfer.....argghh

true.. I guess I've just heard stories of people who didn't drink in high school then went out orientation and got drunk off of 2 drinks... dunno if that's the majority or minority or what.

i glow after 2 drinks....but i can take a lot more

glowy is a good description after 3. i reach the comfort zone after around 5-7

Ya I think most people drank in highschool...otherwise they r in for a big suprise when they think they are at the same level as others who r drinking.

hahaha my other asian friend glows too! I'll tell her about u and make fun of her a bit just as a warmup b4 next year lol

for those of you who never drank in hs, i suggest you DO THIS NOW:

every day, take a few sips of beer to build up tolerance. then slowly increase it every 2 weeks, all the way up to august 17. then let it RIPPPP.

oh yeah, please drink responsibly :-)

The parties start the first night of orientation and you pretty much just wander around following the crowd in Collegetown for the rest of your orientation nights. It's a good time (stress-free, don't get used to that haha) but most of the parties are ultra crowded and not nearly as fun as real parties (once they get going after classes start) b/c it's just a bunch of ****ty Ctown houses/apartments packed with kids. Still fun though haha.

Oh, and if they have that big ice cream thing again the first night, keep your eyes peeled, haha. Start talking to some hot girls and hope some frat guys grab you (+ the girls) to head down to their annex and party...just don't be a group of all guys or you won't get invited anywhere haha. I'm not sure if this is typical but thats what happened to me + my friends.

it' simple. go to the day time orientation events and go to collegetown parties during the night.

R there even any night time orientation things?

yeah there definitely are. every night.

if you're "lucky" (sarcasm) creepy older guys on facebook will invite you to their parties...yes, this actually does happen.
