Orientation phonecall?

So I received a message on my home phone Sunday late afternoon, around 4ish, on mothers day from what seemed to be a student from UCLA. It seemed like she was trying to organize an orientation date for me but I was not home and she did not leave me a call back number. Instead, she said she will call back within the next day or couple days, still no call yet but I was wondering if anyone else got this phone call too.

Seems a bit odd they would do this on Sunday, especially Mothers day, when orientation registration goes live on June 1st.

i remember getting a phone call. but it has nothing to with signing up for orientation; thats all done online.

ya, i got a message to, but i wasn’t home. I have yet to recieve a call back.

the person just discusses some stuff about orientation, housing, other stuff and answers some questions for you if you have any

I got a call but it was someone making sure I was caught up on all the deadlines and stuff. Nothing important.

I’m a parent and my daughter is a freshman this year. I remember the evening my daughter got that call. It was just someone (a student volunteer) going over stuff that she pretty much already knew. She was asked if she had any questions. It was a nice touch for such a huge school but was not really inportant or a big deal so don’t worry if you miss the call.

Thank you for the information everyone!

I got the phone call…
The girl went over a billion phone numbers, emails, and web addresses. She constantly asked if I had any questions and reminded me of all of the important dates coming up.
She was very nice and sounded really hot, if a voice can sound hot. :)

-My student volunteer was named “Jess”

Haha to hear it from the other point of view…one of my friends is going to be an OC this summer and he’s been HAAATING having to call all the incoming freshmen up this way. absolutely abhorring it, the way that he’s bombarded with questions and having to say the same stuff over and over again.

So just so you guys know, these “unimportant” phone calls are actually taking a HUGE chunk of time and effort. show a little appreciation
