I knew this would happen - I got a 4 on AP English, so I don't get the English 105 credit. However, I do know that during Orientation there will be a placement test to try to place out of English 105. What is on this test, and also, what other placement/exemption tests will there be?

I did pretty well on this year's APs, but I'm wondering what stuff like "3-credit 100-level GE4 elective" means? What are GE4 and GE6, and how do they factor into the whole curriculum?

Well, I sort of figured out my question, but let's say I earned:
(3-credit 100-level GE4 elective)
(History 107 (3) and 108 (3) GE4)

Then when I click on GE4, "A student must take at least 12 credits and must include courses from at least two of the following four areas."

So will I still have to take two courses even though I only need one?

If you're getting the 3-credit GE4 elective and IN ADDITION getting credit for completing History 107 and 108, then you will have three credits left for that requirement and all you would need to do is to take a GE4 course that is not a history course, thus satisfying the two areas part of the requirement.

Other placement tests are languages as well as math (if you took a calculus class but did not take the AP test). You can find the full freshman orientation schedule here:
