orientation placement tests

r they gonna be hard??

i wanna know too...i have to take a chem placement test..and i havent touched a chem book in 2 years...

I don't think I have to take any placement tests. I suggest just doing your best (no need to study just for this), because you want to be placed in a class that's the right level for you.

that's exactly right. The counselor there told me that.

In the booklets it says that if you haven't taken chemistry in a while to go back and review it....:(

I don't want to review chem :(

Does the math placement test include any calculus?

No...I remember reading from the booklet the topics on the math placement test. I think it was just Algebra 2/Precalclus stuff. Maybe trig, I'm not sure. Someone else verify.

Does everyone have to take these chem and math tests or is it for certain majors? I am an international relations and glob. bus. major--IT WOULD BE HELL to have to go back and study chem or math. I assume I will only have to do english and a foreign language.

Check the booklet. It tells you if you need to take the test based on major or professional school. I do not believe you need to take chem or math. Maybe not even English, because the writing test is only for people with low SAT or ACT scores.

you guys are coming in as freshmen right?

dang....im taking 4 tests....french, latin, physics, and math.....the language ones are 1 hour each:(

yeah the chem worries me too!

They say to use Schaum's Outline for Beginning Chemistry to help refresh for the chem exam. Anyone have this book? Is it short enough for one to skim over in less than a week while still having a normal life?

but i think the chem should still be pretty easy, regardless. cuz it is 25 questions in 30 minutes... and the engineering ppl said that this test doesn't determine placement-i think ap's and grades prolly do

the math should be pretty easy too, right? and the physics, it's called the physics PREPAREDNESS test, and it said it doesn't even require previous knowledge of physics! huh??

Yeah, the physics one makes me nervous about physics courses in general. I took AP Physics this year which included calculus and such. I don't want to have to learn all of it again. I'm taking the placement test, but I hope I can get somewhat higher than that.

I doubt the physics exam will be based on physics w/ calculus. I believe (and hope) that it is based mostly on trig and algebra.

the physics is 10 questions only. hmm, what kind of physics problems use trig and alg 2?? i know that sounds stupid, but i can't really remember...

syawn, I assume you took the AP Physics C exam since you're so used to calculus-based probs. I took B; Take a look at the Physics B probs when you have a chance on the College Board site.

hum how was chemistry?

Do you need a dictionary for the language placement tests (specifically Latin)?
