I will be going to orientation by myself on May 18th, and I was wondering:

If I get there early (like before 7pm), could I get my FSU card at that time? I am not sure when people at orientation usually get them, but I don't want to wait in a huge line. :/

...and...

Can I take the foreign language placement exam while I am there? Before I register for classes?

I want to take Spanish in the fall, but it will not be a new language for me. I took three years of Spanish from 7th to 9th grade and still remember quite a bit, so if I can get out of a beginning Spanish class and start in a bit more advanced one, then I want to make sure I can sign up for that in the fall when I'm at orientation.

The FSU card center cashier is open until 4:30 (the office is open until 5 but first timers need to get there before 4:30.) If you want to open an FSU Suntrust Acct, the campus Suntrust is just 1-2 doors down from the card center. A good plan is to get to the Card center before 4 to have time to get your FSU card, then go to the FSU Suntrust Branch to get open your free Suntrust Account that links with the FSU card (your FSU card is your debit card for that account if you choose to open an account.) Suntrust is open until 5.

This post is based on the hours posted on the FSU website. Just search at FSU.com for FSU card center and FSU Suntrust Branch. You can call to verify times.

last year at orientation, we just met up with our son at wildwood the first morning at 8am (he wasn’t thrilled with this) and we walked over to the card center, no large line that early. got his card and oipened a bank account in about 1/2 hour. got a bagel at einsteins and off to orientation we went.
