I got stuck with Session E (July 14 - July 16) - anyone else? …

Does that mean that all the good classes are going to be filled up?

Can anyone recommend any good Freshman Honors Seminars?

And this may be a stupid one…but are we supposed to finish our vaccinations before orientation, since they want the Proof of Immunization?

Well, the idea about being closed out of classes certainly makes sense, but I've heard it's not a big deal....

Question 2 is diff. for everyone, so can't really say; it all depends on your interests.

YOU DON'T NEED THE MEDICAL FORM FOR ORIENTATION, I thought I might, but when we got there (session A, holla!) NO ONE EVEN ASKED FOR IT AT ALL. So THIS IS FOR ALL YOU GUYS WHO HAVEN'T HAD ORIENTATION: Yes it says on the CAS website to bring it with you, but YOU DON'T NEED TO. No one in my session did, at leats.

Rumors circulate that they keep a certain amount of space open for each orientation session, so it should be okay. I hope.

I thought "A Real Play of Identities" was pretty cool, although you need to write a page about yourself to sign up for it. It seems like it pushes people to explore new things and it doesn't seem like too conventional of a class/seminar so it migth be fun. Anything that has to do with current issues is bound to be interesting.

Nope.

1: Most of the good classes were taken before anyone besides Stern students registered. Stern let us register so ridiculously early that no one else had even touched the classes yet. I checked Albert recently and none of the classes that I am registered for are even an option any more. This post wasn't meant to scare you into believing that you're going to get all terrible teachers, but instead to show that you're probably not going to get the best professors for the classes that you want to sign up for.

Thats not necessarily true dilo2330.. I'm in CAS session A, and most of the classes were open. They do save spots in classes for each orientation, and when session B was going on, I logged into Albert and saw that instead of ALL of the "writing the essay" classes being closed as they were before then, there were three open spots in every WTE class. (And there are a LOT of WTE classes)

everyone has a choice of when they want to take WTE... i just had my meeting with my academic advisor and she told me i could take it 1st or 2nd semester.... it made no difference

At my session our group's advisor really didn't even try to schedule us into any WTE classes, makes it much easier to schedule it in the spring.

I called and got my AP scores, and I should be exempt from the math placement exam. But I don't exactly have any proof since they haven't sent out the scores yet. Should I still prepare to take the exam?

Oh...and what is the Spanish placement exam like? What should I be reviewing? (vocab, grammar, etc.?)

no clue about the spanish (although most said it was just like the sat IIs), but i told my academic advisor i expected either a 4 or a 5 on the ap calc test and she said to not worry about taking the placement exam then.

plus, they have your ap scores in the computer and can access them after you register.

you dont need any proof of any of your scores. i brought all my SAT and AP score reports and never took them out once. its up to you which placement tests you take.... your advisor never tells you that you HAVE to take a test.

this might be a bit last minute since my session starts on thursday, but the list of stuff to bring on the CAS orientation website says "postcard confirming which session you will attend". Um...what postcard? We don't really need it right?
