Heads up that FSU Orientation registration is now open for summer and fall 2009 new students. Space at orientation sessions are first come - more information can be found at fsu.edu | new student & family programs. You have to pay your admissions deposit (if a freshmen) before registering for orientation.

More information (a check-list) of things to do after accepted (housing, immunizations, orientation, etc.) can be found at fsu.edu | newnole under the PRE-ORIENTATION link.

Thanks for the heads up. Is it possible to see the dates without paying the admissions deposit? Also how quickly do the dates fill up? We weren't goiing to pay the admissions deposit until we found out about UF on 2/13. Will there still be spots available at that point if she doesn't get into UF?

I don't believe you can see the dates without paying the admissions deposit - that is the way it was last year. Last year some of the early sessions closed by mid-January. There are enough sessions for everyone (since it is required), but the earlier sessions and ones that take place right before or after a weekend seem to close first.

I'm sure it'll be okay, as I'm sure there are many people awaiting UF decisions as well. If someone can access the dates, will you post them here? Thanks. We can always email them too.

For any students who will be in the FSU Honors program, it is to your advantage to attend the earliest orientation date available to you. Honors classes fill up very quickly and students who attend later orientation sessions may not be able to register for as many honors courses.

Also, I believe the earliest Fall orientation was late May/Early June last year. I remember waiting in line at that orientation and hearing people complain some of the best profs or time slots were filling up. I know I took the last slot in one of my classes later that night!

However I am very picky with my class times (no morning or friday classes next semester!) so if you're alright with a 9am class (and are taking general ed classes) you don't have to worry too much about your orientation slot.
