Orientation Tests

I was wondering what format the Calculus entry test and the Spanish entry test were. I am guessing that they are hard and that I'll have to study for them as well. Please provide insight.

Also, if I just want to take Calculus 1 at UCLA, would I still have to take the Calculus entry test?

thank you.

the calculus test is just multiple choice and its not hard because it should be everything you learned before calculus.

I think the Spanish one should be pretty easy too... my friend only took three years of spanish (freshman-junior year) in high school, and she passed the one year requirement.

uhhh....wut else do we have to do before school starts (besides orientation)?

ohhh...and WHEN does school start???

do we even have to take these tests if we waive them off with our AP scores?

oh yea...that was another one of my questions...

"In order to enroll in Math 1, effective Fall Quarter 1997, the following condition must be met:
The student's test result for the MDT is at least 26% correct (at least 16 out of 60)."
Math Diagnostic Practice Test

If you passed out of Math31A (or 3A?) with AP credit then you don't need to take the test, but you can if you want, in case you find Math31B to be too hard (it isn't) and want to switch back to Math31A

btw, need 36/60 on the test to get into Math31A

For the english comp 3 requirement, you need a 4 or a 5. For both calc AB and BC, you'll need a 5. For spanish, I think a 4 will do? Not quite sure on that one.

and before school..... just make sure you're on top of everything. Get all the forms and paperwork (fin. aid, housing, etc.) filled out and turned in on time. Pay your fees. (tuition, housing, etc) Go shopping for all the stuff you wanna bring down here (twin extra long bedsheets  ) Enjoy summer. :)

I think UCLA is one of the latest UC's to start. Probably the last week of September.

do i get placed out of us history if i got a 5?

There are no history requirements or anything... you basically just get a couple units if you passed the AP exam for that.

for AHI? yes

The Math Diagnostic test is a joke.

I know everyone has to take a foreign language test... but do I have to take the math diagnostic test if I literally don't plan on taking any math classes? (I'm a history major)

If you got into UCLA you should score at least 54/60 on the test. Unless you're...

i didn't take the test. but i took AP calc A/B and got a 5, so i get credit for that course anyway.
i'm not sure what i need to do if i wanted to take 31b, but since i don't plan on taking 31b like EVER, no worries there :)

so when does school start?

First day of class is Thursday, September 27
You move in like a week or so before

is your foreign language requirement waived if you're a transfer and you completed IGETC but took no foreign language classes? I took 3 years of spanish in high school
