Orientation Tips!

Other than what the UCSB site gives us on "What to bring to orientation" is there anything else I should know from fellow students that already went to orientation?
Anything specific that I should do or look forward to?
Anything specific the site doesn't mention that I should bring?

Bring a jacket.
It is windy there, especially outside your dorms.

You dont need to go to everything except academic advising and class registration, but if you are going not skip anything, id recommend you not miss the IV tour and the Play/Performance.

Oh ya, registration is very frustrating you will know wut im talking about when u get there.

During academic advising, wear comfortable cloths, such as a t-shirt and shorts. You will be stuck in a stuffy room. You will want to fall asleep and will be sweating like crazy. Bring a bottle of water.

There is alot of walking. Manzanita is pretty far off campus. Well, actually not that far. Expect a 5 min walk to campus.

Don’t use a Math class as your first choice class. I made that mistake. Those classes are so large that they will never be full. Choose a class that has to do something with your major, such as Psych1, Econ1, etc etc. Math34/3 will still be available so use it as a third choice. But it doesn’t matter. Even if you dont get ur desired class, you will learn that you can “CRASH” a course. It is fairly common and the advisers will tell you about it. Basically, just show up to your desired class on the first lecture and 1 discussion, then tell the professor you want to join the class but can’t because the class was full or because it is required for your major. They will let you in.

You take your student ID pictures during Orientation, right? I noticed that on the overview of orientation, there are two time slots that say “Student ID photos taken”. Does this mean that we can get our ID photos taken at either the first one (7:30-9:15) or the second one (1:45)?
