a laptop is not required, but it will help…GREATLY

a backpack would be good to keep all the books and stuff you get

The most important thing to bring is a government issued photo id.

But when I went to the trasnfer orientation, I saw many people with their backpacks. You can bring your laptop so you could just start registering immediately when registration opens. Your last name doesn’t matter for registering at the transfer orientation.

Some good walking shoes! It probably won’t affect you as much since it’s just a day long orientation but I made the mistake of just bringing flip flops and now I’m sitting here with blisters on my feet.

If you are in a special program such as Emerging Scholars, they may have have a special place to register so you DON’T have to stand in line at the FAC and register. In that case you will not need a laptop: you can do schedule reserach at the PCL. But if not, I would bring a laptop! Bring WATER! like water bottles because you may have to walk ALOT (especially if you can’t read a map worth **** lol) and light clothes/walking shoes. Dont forget you ID, and if your under 18, your notarized form.

You don’t really need water since there are stations around UT with students distributing water. I got around fine :)

well it depends on how much water you need. You can get around with the water stations, however, if you get lost and need water…

Definitely bring a laptop!
