Has anyone registered yet? I just finished registering and I'm so excited for the fall to start (:

I’m actually applying for orientation tomorrow, I’m so excited for next fall

Which one are you planning on going to? I picked June 13 & 14 (:

I have a few tips for you guys who will be going off to orientation.

Bring the following (they are necessary)
- blanket of some sort
- toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash
- deodorant (important)
- extra shirt. You’ll be wearing one when you arrive, one for the next day, and an extra one to sleep in.
- shorts to sleep in
- notebook or notepad of some sort.
- string backpack to carry everything they give you. Keep it on you at all times.

Everything else is optional. You’re going to be carrying what you bring with you for a good portion of your two days, so pack light, bring only what is absolutely necessary.

During my orientation session, they opened up Castor and Cypress A. Cypress A is insanely cold at all times, they don’t change the thermostat, even if you move the one in your room, it will still be cold.

If you’re not the partying type, bring a handheld video game or an iPad, netbook, w/e. The dance party is during the night and there isn’t much else to do at night other than eat dinner and go to your room.

Those of you who are going to USF in the fall: Pick an orientation session after June 28th. The orientation office asks you to do this later anyway because the students coming in for the summer need to attend orientation first. If you’re coming in for the summer, grab the earliest one you can attend. The earlier, the better, you get it done and over with, so you can go home, relax, and get your stuff together for the summer. It will come much sooner than you think.

On an unrelated note, if you guys have been accepted and have a net-id and password all set up for your email, you guys can access uConnect. You can get on there now (even though it still has this year’s people in there) and ask questions, post stuff, etc.

Since I am an AA transfer I don’t get the same dates as you unfortunately nor do I get to spend the night there :p

I will be doing my orientation on the 14th though, but I think it will be with another group? But I could be wrong.

If you got a facebook you can look me up, maybe make a friend or two before fall? lol anyways my name is Daniel Balcerak

@ kaleid that info is so much helpful…thanks… :)

You’re welcome. I personally didn’t enjoy orientation, it’s just a blur of a lot of information thrown at you that you didn’t really need in the first place, but it is mandatory.

One thing to do maybe before going to orientation is opening a checking account at a bank and getting a check/debit card if you don’t already have one. I know some high schoolers have never had a bank account, so now’s the time to get one before you show up at school. USF doesn’t have a preferred bank arrangement with any bank other than its own on campus USF Credit Union–but you can’t get a debit card at the credit union. There are some ATM’s on campus if you need to get cash from your account. Most major Florida banks have branch locations near campus, so it maybe makes sense to use a bank that is in both your hometown and also in Tampa so your parents can put money in in an emergency–check online for bank locations. You’ll use your school id for your meal plan, most everything else you need to purchase–you’ll use your debit card–you don’t need to carry much cash ever.
