Orientation

Just wondering..how many of you will be coming with parents in toll for the orientation and move-in period ?

My mom and brother are coming and leaving on the same day.

yeah, my parents will be coming/leaving same day.
anyone know if it'll be better to arrive a day earlier?

ah.

the fine days of orientation. i remember that most people had their parents stay for a day or two. mine just helped me move in, then left. and i think there's no need to arrive earlier. the move-in times that they give you are suggestions anyway. and if you arrive earlier, you will just be stuck in a hotel.

My parents left that day

ok for parents to stay (and do the parent part of orientation)???

A lot of parents stayed overnight and left the next day; mine left the day they dropped me off. Either one is fine and normal, and it's really just a matter of personal preference that may or may not be based on how long they have to drive to get back home.

Moving in is extremely well organized for freshman. They have staggered move in times so everyone is not coming at once. They let you drive all the way up to the door of the dorms, and there are upper class students at the doors of the dorms waiting to unload your car and help you carry your stuff to your room. It turned out to be very easy. Some parents leave right away, some stay overnight and go to different sessions. You will get a freshman orientation booklet that sets the schedule (it probably is online too) so you can decide whether it is important for your parents to stay or not.
