Considering, i get accepted to UCLA. What dates should I look out for in the summer, since I am going on vacation. I know there is an orientation, is that mandatory? and I also know that there are many dates for orientation, should I decide to go, is there any disadvantage going on the august 22-24 session rather than July 10-12? Will there be less flexibility in choosing my classes? and I am a freshman. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. thanks

the disadvantage of the later ones is that many of the classes will be closed, such as english comp3, and only the early morning times for lectures will be available

orientation isnt mandatory but its definitely recommended

Hi!

You can check out http://www.orientation.ucla.edu

I think that might clarify some questions.

Is that a huge disadvantage moldau? I am planning on taking the pre-med track. And how early?

I would suggest getting in to the earliest orientation possible.
The earlier you go, the earlier your enrollment time, the more likely you'll get the classes that you want/need.

I attended the second to the last orientation session and managed to get an English Comp 3 spot, but my other 2 classes for the quarter sucked.

o man, kinda late now. Should have waited to buy the tickets

You can register for Orientation, never go, and get the "priority enrollment". But just be sure to enroll when the other students are.

That's just comes down to your values .. if you believe $300+ is worth getting an earlier enrollment time. :)

^it definitely is.

depends on your major... if you're undeclared just stick with GEs.
if you are in letters/science (aka, NOT engineering) then find some pre-major or major reqs, or just fall back on GEs.
honestly, you WILL find something, and if you make sure your classes fill some requirement or other, then even if you don't like them they'll have served a purpose. and you'll be done in december anyways.
just look at what classes are open after the next week to get a sense of what's feasible, and if you want to try for certain crowded classes or a certain GE cluster, then you can decide if it's worth $300 ;)

^^ "I am planning on taking the pre-med track."

haha ok musta missed that ;)
my post now applies to ppl in general.
polite... best of luck to you xD
