Orientation

Has anyone registered yet for orientation? We are going to the CAS session June 22-24.

I'm going to the same one as you. Can't wait to go and start meeting new people and getting to know the BU community. Hey, who knows, maybe I'll see you there.

Doubt it, since I'm a parent, and I don't expect to see my S from the time I drop him off at the dorm until Friday noon! We're staying Tuesday and Wednesday nights as well.

I registered for the June 15th-17th session (the first).

June 22-24

yeaherz!

June 22-24, I'm only spending Thursday night in the dorms. Isn't that mandatory?

Yes. I'm spending both wed. and thurs.

We're flying from California so with the 3 hour difference we won't arrive til Tues. evening. Wednesday S has signed up for Common Ground and I think we'll need a day to adjust to the time change anyway.

I'm going to the June 29th- July 1st one. ut I'm only staying one night. I dont want to extend the agony lol

What's the "common ground" program?

Here's the link for background:
http://www.bu.edu/commonground/

On Wednesday, you can participate in the Common Ground program. It's from noon to 4 p.m. and costs $20 extra. If you look at the orientation schedule, you can read more about it. CG participants do not have the option of taking the writing assessment on Wednesday; they must take it Thursday afternoon as scheduled.

I found the description:

Common Ground is a program that prepares you to become a part of Boston University's rich, diverse community. The program includes interactive community-building exercises and small-group discussions that encourage self-discovery and openness to new friendships. This program includes discussions on culture, race, and ethnicity.

Participants should plan to arrive on campus by 10 am on the Wednesday before their University Orientation session, for sessions 1-7. The program begins at noon and ends by 4 pm. Students attending Common Ground will take the Boston University Writing Assessment on Thursday, during its regularly scheduled time. The program participation fee, including lunch, is $20.

Going to the 2nd sesson!

Is anyone going up the week before school actually starts to participate in that volunteer program? What else do you do that week and do you stay in the dorm you will move into?

The applications aren't available . You need to apply for the program and I think an essay is involved. Yes, you get to move into your dorm room a week early.

I'm doing Common Ground. I accidentally checked off Wed. BUWA, but I think CG will override that choice. I'm hoping to sign up to FYSOP, too. I feel like I'm going to camp again. . .
