Hi, My Daughter will be going to the Orientation on June 6th. I see they offer a parent orientation as well for $85 each. Is this something we should do? Is there new information that would help us or is it the same as the info sessions we've been to a few times. Thanks.

it’s generally the same thing as far as the campus tour and school profile info sessions are concerned, except in the parent orientation they’ll explain more about the financial aid process, fafsa renewals, loans, and payment plans as well as the academic policies and requirements for being considered a full time student and the rules and regulations for transferring majors or schools. it’s all pretty much the same stuff you learn in the info sessions, just more in depth.

It didn’t seem worth it to us, we did not attend. I don’t feel like I missed anything.

I didn’t really feel like this is something they should be charging for, either. I’m going to be paying them enough money over my S’s college career at UMass, and I hate being nickel-and-dimed.

i completely agree!

They don’t charge parents to eat meals when you visit your kids, so one hand giveth and the other hand taketh away.

On the other hand, they do charge a bundle circa $500 for that early arrival course, although you get one credit for it.
