<li><p>For Direct Stafford loans, the origination fee is 1% but the 0.5% rebate fee will effectively make the deduction only 0.5%</p></li>
<li><p>For a PLUS loan, the fee is 4% and there is a 1.5% rebate.</p></li>
<li><p>This structure will remain in place until July 2012, when the rebate fee goes away.</p></li>
