I am getting concerned that my son's braces may not come off in time before USC starts in August. I called USC Dental school and put my son's name on the waiting list (maybe there will be an opening, maybe not). It sounds like they don't want the liability of working on braces started by another orthodontist unless it is an emergency. We are not buying our son a car freshman year and we live on the East coast. If his braces don't come off in time, what happens?
Does anyone here on CC go to a good Orthodontist near USC?

Same issue... I was supposed to have my braces off in April (I've had them since September 04!) but it didn't happen. My ortho is trying to get me in as much as possible but I'm worried I'll go to college with them on.

Actually, I'm more worried about how geeky I look than finding an orthodontist

To srabiee90: Did you contact anyone at USC to figure out what to do? I told my husband to look into this when he goes to the Orientation.

We have an excellent orthodontist. He is located in Westwood. Yes, home of the Bruins. I know that he accepts some insurance programs and has a variety of different methods including invisiline. (Which we didn't use.) PM me if you need a referral.

How do I PM you ellebud? Also, I don't know how my son would get out to Westwood without a car. Do you hear of other freshmen with this need for an Orthodontist type of problem? Thank you so much for your help.

To PM someone simply click on their user name (i.e. the blue ellebud you see on ellebud's post) and scroll down twice until you reach the option "Send a private message to ellebud"

To PM (private message): 2 ways
1. Click on the name of the person (in blue next to their post). On drop down menu, click "Send a private message to..."
2. At the top right of your browser window (in CC), look for "Private Messages" in blue under "Welcome ..."

Just a thought--but instead of calling USC Dental School, you might want to call the student health service. They might have referral orthodontists that would be close and convenient.

Thank you so much for your referral and idea to go to the student health service. My husband is going to look into this matter for a back up plan for an Orthodontist at the student orientation day.

Most orthodontists will not want to take on a case so close to being finalized. The first thing I would do is to speak with your current orthodontist and tell him/her the situation. (S)He may either be able to finish the treatment in time or have a colleague in the new area he trusts.

My son's Orthodontist is aware of the time line. He thinks he will be done in time, but not a guarantee. It doesn't look like it will be done in 3 months.

I mean, it doesn't look to me that it will be completed in 3 months.
