Orthopedic surgeon

OK so I know the whole process of getting into medical school. I want to specialize in orthopedic surgery in pediatrics or trauma, not quite sure. But anyways, can someone tell me how long does it take to officially become an orthopedic surgeon

[Length of Residencies](http://residency.wustl.edu/medadmin/resweb.nsf/0ee53e934810efcd86256a94005e5f7d/3edd4e91945f8a2b86256f850071ae49?OpenDocument)

Ortho-- at least 5 years, plus an additional 1-2 year fellowship for a pediatric specialty.

Just to be clear, that’s 4 years of medical school, plus 5 years of residency, plus another 1-2 years for specialty fellowship.

Thanks you guys :)

4 years of undergraduate with premed
4 years of medical school
5 years residency in orthopedic surgery- Where you will learn how to operate
2 years of fellowship- Where you will learn how to operate on kids

This is a very noble field. I would love to see you pursue this field.

All the best
