I don't get everyone's sudden obsession with Crash. It's an average movie that garned slightly above-average reviews when it was released.

Christ, they jam five million characters and stories into 100 minutes. Instead of ending up with a fully-developed plot and fleshed-out, three-dimensional characters, we have a half-baked plot full of stereotypes. The writers should have narrowed the scope or thrown in at least another hour of character and plot development.

I'm convinced that if it weren't for SUPERB acting, this wouldn't have even be considered. Then again, it was a pretty weak year overall.

And yeah...I had no idea who would win Best Animated Short Film.

Team Reese!

As long as she wins Best Actress in a leading role, then I will be a happy camper. :)

You will be very happy tonight, klf. Reese is almost a lock for Best Actress. I fell in love with her in Walk the Line, which I think should've been nominated for Best Picture.

If Crash wins for Best Picture, I will cry like a baby. Haha.. no, I'm not that immature. I loved it, but I don't think it's the best film of the year. Maybe I'm just blinded by my love for Brokeback Mountain, and someone needs to pinch me. To be honest, I would rather have Capote win over Crash, but the chances of that happening are nil. Crash does have an important message, however.

The Crash win is quite possibly the biggest disappointment in cinematic history.

I have 36 points, all said and done.

Nobody will remember Crash in five years. The most underwhelming Best Picture winner ever (though it may have benefitted from such a strong field, splitting votes).

OMG I want to kill myself.

Kidding, of course.

Walk the Line is a better film than Crash. So is Capote.

36 points here too.

Reese won!! I loved her speech, I loved how the cameras kept looking at her husband waiting for her to mention him, and she left him and her kids for last . . but not least for sure. aww her kids are lucky to have such a beautiful talented mother. She talks so well too. That was definently the best part of the 3+ hour long Oscars.

"Walk the Line is a better film than Crash. So is Capote."

Or Match Point. Good Night, and Good Luck. Munich. Brokeback Mountain. Any of those deserved it before Crash.

The Academy always makes me so mad. I haven't had a non-frustrating Oscar night in a while.

Yeah, you are so right, jpps.

Sarorah, I also loved Reese's speech. I really think that Joaquin Phoenix is in love with her (or at least has feelings for her). I also liked Hoffman's speech.. I was moved.
