I was recently accepted into the Biological Sciences Scholars program OSU!! Can anyone tell me about the dorm situation as in is it a social dorm?? What kind of things does this scholars program entail?? etc… Thank You!!
Congratulations! My D was in Barrett for Biological Science Scholars a couple years ago. For an out of state student, I thought this was a great way to make OSU a little smaller. She met another Biological Science Scholar online and they requested to be roommates. They were paired with two other girls. The four became very good friends. They didn’t all stay together the next year but remain close (three of the four went to three different sororities).
As for Barrett - the room with the bunks is small and my D had the top bunk which proved to be tricky. It’s old but air conditioned and really not a bad dorm at all. Don’t take a lot of stuff with you would be my suggestion. Barrett was social but everything is what you make of it. You find the people that like to do what you like.
The actual scholar’s events/requirement didn’t seem to be too time consuming from my perspective. She got involved with some charities for service hours; attended regular required meetings, attended discussions with speakers on different topics; and lots of more social things like flag football, and other thinks I didn’t get to hear about lol I know she would do it all over again.
