I submitted my app on 10/31 and haven’t heard back yet. I have a 32 with a 3.5 uw GPA and I’m in state. I’ve seen people who applied the last day get their stuff back already so I’m assuming the whole thing is random. Also my sister goes to OSU and said she got her decision back in a week. Hopefully they don’t make me wait until mid-January but it’s basically like you never know how long it’ll take. Your stats are great though, did you apply for Honors and Scholars or the Morrill Scholarship?

I’m instate and applied the day of the deadline for early action. All my friends have heard back, but I haven’t yet. I’m not super concerned, but I’d certainly like to know soon.

@dreamer3412 @jaggmarie i’m OOS, but also applied for Morrill. Do you guys rank in the top 10%? I’m not, and I feel like that’ll keep me from receiving this scholarship.

@Texas2Ohio I am in top 10% but I don’t think being top 10% is a prereq for Morrill. Like people have said, they usually put more emphasis on your essay on diversity. Did you hear back on your decision yet?

I think I’m in the top 10% but my school doesn’t rank so I was a little concerned but I’m pretty sure you don’t have to be. Also I was at OSU last week and was in Hale Hall which is a part of ODI and someone in there had recieved the Morrill Scholarship and he said he had a 3.4 GPA with a 27 so the essay is most important

I haven’t received any scholarship decisions yet…I believe Morrill decisions begin around Jan. 31st and end around March 31st (that’s just what I’ve picked up from previous threads). I can hardly wait…getting the Morrill scholarship is really the only way I’ll be able to attend OSU!

@Texas2Ohio Decisions for the Morrill Scholarship are starting to be distributed. I received an email today that I received the Excellence scholarship. I’m not sure if that means that I didn’t advance to the distinction level, though. Good luck! ( and tag me in your next post if you have any questions).

@Jalaquan- did you get your admittance decision at the same time as morrill email? I applied for morrill, but haven’t gotten a decision yet (a lot of ppl in my high school has already). Do things look bad for me lol?

@jalaquan Omg, are you serious?!! I’m assuming you applied EA. I haven’t heard anything about Morrill yet. I was assuming that they would take a little bit longer to sort through people’s essays and assign an award to them.

My son is OOS and applied way before Nov 1. He is admitted but has not received anything for the Morrill Scholars program or the National Buckeye Scholarship. Does it come in the mail or by email?

@college67 I think Natl Buckeye comes by mail, Morrill comes by email. That’s what I’ve heard/picked up from social media, but I could be wrong!

@Texas2Ohio I am instate! Also, I did apply EA. I applied on October 22 I believe, and I was admitted around November 23rd(give or take a few days). I did think that it would take at least another month before they started to make decisions on the scholarship, but I guess things have changed(?).

If it means anything, I searched on twitter( just a little Morrill scholar search) and there was only one other person who said he also got the Excellence award. So maybe they are just starting to send decisions. @Sugoi15 I don’t think you should worry right now, but it is strange that other students in your school have gotten notifications. Do you know what type of scholarship they received( Maximus, excellence, etc)?

@college67 is right. They notify you by email for the Morrill scholarship.

If anyone has anymore questions, just tag me in the post! I wish you all the best of luck.

@Jalaquan I’ve been searching Twitter as well! Do you mind sharing your stats?

My only hook for the Morrill Scholarship is the fact that I’m from one of the most diverse cities in the US (reported by Major news sources) and I wrote about that in my essay and how I want to be an “agent of diversity” on campus by using my experiences to spread knowledge and respect for other cultures. However, I’m white & ranked 22% of my class (3.62 GPA), which makes me think I won’t be getting the scholarship…
