OSU in the Mail

I recently took my ACT and SAT and was having a debate with my friends.

I put down OSU as one of the schools to send my scores to, and they have sent me three pretty packets, have given me two phone calls, etc.

My question is do they do this with everyone who sent them their scores? I had pretty good scores on both (1810 and 27), but obviously nothing amazing. Are they “interested” or just calling me because?

I think that is just the way OSU does it these days. They send a lot of nice, colorful, informative pieces and must have an army of students and staff that make calls and otherwise communicate with prospective students. We were pretty impressed. They did a much better job of maintaining lines of communication than other schools my son was considering.

I totally agree. We marvel at the quality and volume of stuff from OSU.

Here's the most recent one. D received a letter from the Music Department congratulating her on her accomplishments in music over the years and giving her information about the Minor in Music. In addition, it listed the Music classes being offered this year that satisfy GEC (General Ed) requirements. It also included audition information for ensembles that require it.

D was selected for Mid-state Honors Choir all four years of HS, but it couldn't have been more than one listed item in her application. D is in Humanities; she did not apply to the School of Arts (where the Music department is located). OSU had 22,000 applications this year. What amazing attention to detail!

mtb, one reason Ohio State gets so many applications is because of its pure attention that it gives students. I think the university understands that Ohio State, to Joe Student, is big and intimidating and wants to show that you can get the same personalized education and admissions process as smaller schools.

Believe me, with a 27, I would say Ohio State would be pretty interested.

Thanks for the replies everyone!
