OSU is at full strength... AND THEY STILL SUCK!

Anyone who's a current UMich student attend any Wolverine ice hockey games at Yost Arena? I hear they do some incredible chants and really get in to the game. Plus they play off things the announcer says and stuff, sounds really fun. And they call the opposing goalie a "sieve"...

only 1 point back though...

they killed us in basketball though...

The hockey games are a hoot. To give credit, we got the idea for the cheers from Cornell fans back in the early 1990s. Hockey games are loads of fun because of it.

The C-Ya cheer has gotten increasingly foul over time, and they've been working for the last few years to get fans to tone that one down. They haven't been successful yet. I hope it gets resolved in a satisfactory way.

I'm always amused by the littler rituals, like
HOW...MUCH....TIME....IS...LEFT?

Not to mention football.... :)

GO BUCKS!!

Ohio state WILL NOT beat us in football next year...that is for sure. They won this year because 1)the nature of college football's greatest rivalry and 2)they had nothing to lose whereas we had everything to lose. The issue is, however, that ohio state illegally recruits more than any other university in the country and still, following the maurice clarett (loser and choke artist-4.82 in the 40 lol) scandal, they still show little regard for ncaa rules-the QB took money from a booster and was forced to miss whatever $hitty bowl the played and the season opener next year. Also, their athletic director resigned after being forced to admit that some of clarrett's comments were true. The point is that ohio state has no class and little regard for rules and regulations. http://www.umich.edu/~uac/threeweeks/storydfb6.html?fpvol=6&f****=4&vol=6&iss=4&sto=14 (just for fun!)

And the student section yells "Hey (Name of Opposition's Goalie), it's your mother and she says 'You Suck!'"

Maurice Clarett has been proven a fraud and there is no talk of tOSU receiving sanctions. They should be the team to beat in the Big-10 the upcoming season, especially with everyone returning except for the Nuge. Michigan will lose Edwards, which I believe will make a much larger than anticipated impact. Shazor and Jackson weren't large losses though, they sucked. :)

Hey Michigan looked GREAT against Texas...The game was DISGUSTING. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the Buckeyes handle Texas in the fall. For the love of god, take the blinders off. Michigan is no better than any other school when it comes to recruiting. And...Noogs bro is gonna play for the team, no? A loss for the soccer program (and they had a good year). Nugent will be a star in the NFL. And Welsh0913 Go Bucks! and UMDAD Go Blow. And nirvanarageatm....get a clue...no class? Chris Webber? Fab 4/5?

Ok you obviously proved my point that ohio state is a low-class institution inasmuch as you are buckeye fans talking $hit on a michigan board. Ohio state will be good next year, but michigan will be the team to beat. Although we lose braylon, we have two potentially all american receivers in breaston and avant. Our lines are incredible-I should hope to see Gabe Watson be named All American. Henne will improve dramatically, as he has had a season of experience, and Hart will be as dangerous as ever (let us not forget 3 consecutive 200+ yard rushing games). We also have the 4th best recruiting class in the country. NOW, while it is true that the great majority of college athletic programs engage in illegal recruiting and other activities, no school has shown a blatant disregard for the rules like ohio state. I personally believe clarrett's testimony, but of course nothign will ever result from it because he has zero credibility and there exists no physical evidence. Clarrett revealed that the university itself, not just the boosters (as was the case with the fab 5), was involved in preferential treatment of these athletes. The fab 5 is used by every ohio state fan I know to combat this argument, but it did not extend beyond the booster and the coach (who was fired, whilst jim tressel remains head coach). The university has apologized many times, forfeited all wins, taken down banners, and hired one of the cleanest, cllassiest, and most law-abiding coaches in the game (Tommy Amaker RULES!!!!!). Even amidst the scandals, the fab 5 did define basketball in the early 90s. No one will ever forget the baggy shorts and black socks. Even today Michigan basketball still uses that outfit. Anyway, ohio state sucks and will never be anywhere near the level of Michigan. Michigan wins over osu=57. osu wins over Michigan=38. Who is the winningest team in all of college football???? That's right.

Although Breaston and Avant are pretty good WRs, they aren't on the same level as Holmes/Ginn, IMO. I do agree that Michigan should have an awesome line next year, per Michigan's tradition of pumping out terrific O-Linemen. However, Edwards bailed out Henne on a lot of plays last year. I think with the absence of Edwards, Henne's production will actually decrease. Hart and Grady should make Michigan's backfield solid, leaps and bounds ahead of Ohio State.

However, the major flaw in Michigan is not their offense, rather, it is their defense. An already suspect defense is even more suspect with two AA DBs leaving for the NFL. Michigan needs to find some speedy LBs to cover mobile quarterbacks, or else players like Troy Smith and Vince Young will run all over them again next year as well. The defense is Michigan's achilles heel.

OSU will win again! woo woo.

Hey no offense to anyone. The Big Ten is a great conference. The Hawkeyes played the best bowl game of all.

The Hawkeyes game was a classic, I must say. Tate is a monster.

Ohio State will be better than Michigan in the upcoming year. Everyone knew they weren't going to be as good last year because they lost a lot of seniors so quit trying to act like they did terrible. Let's be honest here: the game that REALLY decides the season is the OSU-Michigan game. Ohio State won. Enough said.

Oh please which team is actually better is not necessarily the team that wins. Michigan was clearly a better team last year, but the beauty of the rivalry is that the team's previous games don't predict anything. In the past both teams have gone into the game undefeated and lost. ESPN rated it the number 1 sporting rivaly of the 20th century:
"When Ohio Stadium opened in 1922, Michigan spoiled the party with a 22-0 victory. The rivalry was heated in the early days as both have been long-time college football powers. But it got even hotter in 1969, when Bo Schembechler took over as Michigan's coach and upset Woody Hayes' No. 1-ranked, undefeated Buckeyes. Four times in the next six years, both teams were ranked in the top five when they met. In 1970 and 1973, both were undefeated (they tied 10-10 in '73). From 1970 through 1975, Michigan entered without a loss every year. The Wolverines won just once. Ohio State was 9-0-1 in 1993, 11-0 in 1995 and 10-0 in 1996. The Buckeyes lost each time. That is rivalry." (espn.com)

it really is better to go into this game as the underdog

Then why would they even play the games? You must not understand the entire basis of sports: competition to decide who is the better person/team. Wow I can't believe you would actually make such an egregious statement.

Oh, by the way: Ohio State: 65 No. 1 Illinois: 64

How did a college hockey thread wander off into college football?

In case you football afficianados don't realize it "OSU is at full strenth and they still SUCK" is a hockey cheer, which the Michigan hockey crowd at Yost Ice Arena yells when an OSU penalty is over.

You cannot be serious. There is NO WAY that ohio state is better than Illinois. Were Ohio State allowed to play in the tournament (haha had to forfeit because of breaking ncaa rules, no surprise and the fab 5 argument becomes nullified lol), there is no way they would make it past the sweet 16. College basketball is prone to upsets. carolina lost to clemson, who also swept maryland, who in turn swept duke. Michigan basketball this year was, well, terrible, but we almost beat illinois. Next, this thread turned into a thread about football because hockey is not and will never be a credible sport IN THE UNITED STATES. Examine the following preponderence of evidence (i.e. no single individual following statement proves my claim, but taken as a whole they do)
1. there are no dominant african american players (whereas there are in tennis and golf and will emerge in swimming and cycling)
2. the championships are tape delayed on espn
3. no one cares that the nhl was cancelled (see espn polls)
4. it was popularized in canada
5. only northeastern european countries and canadians care about it
6. nascar is more popular than nhl
7. more people know/care that the great Michael Johnson's indoor 400m record was recently broken than that the nhl was cancelled
8. Indianapolis, the sports capital of the world, does not have an nhl team
